Walter Presents launched January 2016 in the UK as a video-on-demand service and is a joint venture between Channel 4 and Global Series Network, founded by Jason Thorp, Walter Iuzzolino and Jo McGrath.
Dedicated to showcasing award winning foreign language drama, the service is named after its curator Walter Iuzzolino, a passionate drama fan.
In March 2017 Walter Presents launched as an SVOD platform in the US with the New York Times hailing it as a ‘chic TV boutique with a foreign accent’. In November 2017 Walter Presents launched in Australia through pay-TV service Foxtel. Walter Presents has now launched in Italy on September 2018, its first roll-out in mainland Europe, on Discovery’s Nove, Giallo and Dplay channels.
Walter Presents is a newly launched video on demand service offering a highly curated selection of the best foreign dramas on television. Each hand-selected drama in both the UK and the US are first run and exclusive.
Walter Presents launched in the UK in January 2016 on Channel 4’s All 4 platform and beat all expectations, with one of its programmes, the German Cold War drama DEUTSCHLAND 83 debuting as the highest-rated foreign-language drama in UK TV history.
Walter Presents launched on March 16, 2017 on the web and multiple platforms for $6.99 a month. At launch, Walter Presents premiered 34 full series from 12 countries, with 3 new series premiering each month. A partnership between the UK’s Channel 4 and Global Series Network, the US is the first international expansion market for Walter Presents.
Yes, Walter Iuzzolino is a former UK television executive who quit his job in 2014 and devoted his time to finding the best foreign TV programmes available. The rules were simple: Walter watched award-winning series that were hits in their home countries. After watching 4,000 hours (and counting) of programming, Walter Presents was born.

Jason has worked in OTT, pay TV and free TV environments domestically and internationally over the past 25 years for the likes of Fox, Universal Studios, ITV and Viasat. Formerly the head of Fox Networks in the UK having run the Fox and National Geographic channels for ten years, bringing seminal shows such as The Wire, Breaking Bad, Dexter and The Walking Dead to the UK. Jason’s extensive commercial experience, driving content and schedule strategy across Europe, proved invaluable when he left Fox in 2014, to become the CEO of Global Series Network. Since launch the service has gone from strength to strength, out-performing all expectations. This autumn, in recognition of Walter Presents success, World Screen will be honouring Jason with a Trendsetter Award at MIPCOM.

Walter is a former commissioner and TV Executive responsible for generating a wide range of primetime factual entertainment hit series. As a Commissioning Editor for Features at Channel 4, Walter developed a string of factual hit formats before leaving to become Creative Director at Betty, where he spearheaded a quick growth trajectory of turnover and output which led to the company sale to Discovery Networks International in 2011. In 2014 Walter left Betty to pursue his dream of launching a foreign language drama channel. Since then he’s spent hundreds of hours locked in a dark room, handpicking the best drama from around the world. He is the eponymous face behind the Walter Presents brand and contrary to some rumours, Walter is a real person, not an actor or a machine.

Jo is an experienced producer and broadcast commissioner, with a proven ability for developing returnable series and bestselling spin-off books for the UK and international markets. Formerly Head of Production for Fox International Europe, Head of Features for Channel 4 Television and Head of Factual for Tiger Aspect Television, Jo’s track record of combining mainstream appeal with strong brand identity has been utilised with stunning success in her role as Director of Marketing and Press GSN. The service launched in both the UK and US to huge critical acclaim and this year was nominated for Best Specialist Channel by the UK’s leading trade magazine.
